Xero accounting package

The fine people over at xero have launched their pay per month accounting software. It’s great to see a web-able accounting package for SME’s but I just wonder how, in this day and age of open source, a closed source pay to use application will take off. The fact of the matter is that most small business owners in New Zealand tend to be a little tech-averse anyway, the pool of users wanting to use a web based package has got to be pretty small anyway - that coupled with the fact that it’s a closed source product….. I’m just not so sure about it all. Still Rod Drury knows his stuff so we’ll have to wait and see

Hello world!

Hi all. For awhile now I’ve been thinking, talking and writing about the issues facing small and medium businesses that exist here at the end of the world. We’re distant from markets, have little or no natural resource base and a comparatively high average wage - all which goes to make it difficult to compete.
