For those who are firmly ensconced in traditional businesses, desk (or cubicle) bound, and using largely traditional processes, this post might come across as a little bit of science fiction. I believe, however, that the future is coming more quickly than anyone realizes and that future is, in part, mobile. As such, I wanted to write about some interesting applications of mobile technology that businesses are using today.

It’s interesting to note that Mary Meeker, the Morgan Stanley analyst credited with prophesizing the ascendancy of such giants as Google, Amazon, and eBay has taken up a role as a partner at the famed venture capital company Kleiner Perkins – it’s worth seeing what the person whom The New Yorker called “an awesome diviner of opportunity” picks as the top emerging trend. As far as Meeker is concerned, mobile is leading the charge and is the top trend pick for the future.
